This ode to the monsoons saw the confluence of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi styles of classical dance.
Kiranmayee began her Bharatanatyam performance with a Slokam - ‘Gajananam Bhootaganadhi Sevitam’ rendered in Ragamalika. Coming up next was a varnam - ‘Manavi Chekonara’ in Sankarabharanam ragam, which showcased her mastery over abhinaya and nritta. This was followed by ‘Tandai Taaye’ a well-loved composition of Gopalakrishna Bharathi in Shanmukhapriya ragam. She concluded her performance with a vibrant Thillana in Hindolam, set to Adi talam.
Himansee commenced her Kuchipudi performance with ‘Deva devam bhaje,’ a popular Annamacharya keerthana in Hindola ragam. She mesmerised the audience with her graceful and elegant portrayal of Krishna in ‘Swagatham Krishna,’ a composition of Utthukad Venkata Subbaiyar. Coming up next was ‘Bho Shambho,’ a well-known composition of Swami Dayananda Saraswathi. Also on display were a sparkling ‘Jathiswaram’ and Annamacharya’s ‘Alarulu Kuriyaga.’
