1st Anniversary Celebrations
As a double-treat to the art-inclined Hyderabadis, AnandaPriya’s Anniversary Celebrations brought two renowned artistes from Chennai and Delhi in consecutive scintillating performances.
First to perform was the illustrious Priyadarshini Govind. She started the performance with Shadakshara kavuthvam, a Madurai Muraleedharan’s composition in Roopaka Talam. Vaenam Swamiyai Azhaithodi vaa, a varnam of Guru Dandayudhapani Pillai in Ragamalika was the shining jewel of the evening. Coming up next, was Nee Matalemayanura, a javali in Poorvikalyani raga, set to Adi tala. Priyadarshini mesmerized the audience with her portrayal of Yashoda and her supreme love for Krishna in Jagadodharana, the much-loved poet-saint Purandaradasa’s composition in Kapi. Kuru Yadu Nandana, the legendary Jayadeva Ashtapadi in Behag came up next in which Radh. A scintillating Thillana in Poorvi, a composition of Tirugokarnam Vaidyanada Iyer showcased her absolute mastery of Nritta and Nritya. Brindavani Venu, a devotional abhang, composed by Bhanudasa provided the fitting finale to a glorious performance.
The next evening saw Kumar Mardur take centrestage with his melodious voice. He set the tone for the evening with his very first rendering - a mellifluous composition in Raag Puriya Dhanasri. His choice of rendering a second composition in the same raag, helped introduce the audience to its finest nuances. What followed was a delightful exposition in Raag Nayaki Kanada. He followed it up with compositions in mellifluous raags and bhajans that evoked devotion in every listener.
A delightful Ikebana exhibition was also on display at the Auditorium on the themes of music, dance and the emotions of ‘ananda - joy’ and ‘priya – love.’
