Initiated at the tender age of six, Sathiraju Venumadhav's first formal training was under his grandmother late Smt. SM Rajyalakshmi. Under the guidance of Sri Sistla Rajasekharam at Repalle (Guntur District), he went on to make a very impressive stage debut at the age of 12.
He further honed his stylistic techniques from Smt. Haripriya, Sri Vasa Padmanabham and Sri D. Raghavachari. He has also received advanced training under the doyen of Carnatic vocal music, Sri Nedunuri Krishna Murthy.
Venu Madhav is also a gifted composer. His repertoire of musical compositions such as Daivanayaka Suprabhatham (devotional), Essence (fusion music), Why Bat Has No Friends (fusion), Sri Ayyapa Swamy Nithya Pooja Vidhanam (devotional) has won him many accolades.
His most recent achievement, Annamacharya Padamandakini – music composition for 108 hitherto unknown kirthanas of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya in 108 ragas is being hailed by critics and rasikas alike as a noteworthy contribution to classical Carnatic music. Celebrated Carnatic music critic VAK Ranga Rao described the compositions to be ‘nearly equal’ to that of compositions of all-time musical greats.
